I did much better this week....:)
I think I had three Prenatal vitamins, three Omega-3 pills, and three Bio-K (probiotic yogurt drinks)....
I went to a prenatal appointment and August is growing perfectly... she weighed 5lbs9oz on Thursday.
Went on a tour of the hospital - I had never seen L+D at Good Samaritan and it is lovely... I am ashamed to admit
I was pleasantly surprised that there are no residents or medical students there.
Still flossing on a regular basis. Had a dentist appt last week and the hygienist gave me very positive feedback about my gums...:) Thanks to this blog and this blog only!!!!!

Week #13
I have to admit that I have taken only one prenatal vitamin and one Omega 3 since my last blog.
And I have so much less time to improve...
So I am upping the stakes... I will be 35 wks on Sunday, almost time to check my GBS (Group Beta Strep) status. (Approximately 1/3 of women are colonized with GBS. It has no effect on the women, but can be potentially harmful to the newborn).
My OB/Gyn friend told me about this product "Bio K" that is a probiotic to help maintain the natural flora of the vagina. I really hope my GBS is negative so that I can stay home in early labor without worrying about getting to the hospital for antibiotics. Ok, back to the mission... I am going to drink the "Bio K" nightly and take my prenatal BEFORE I brush/floss my teeth.
So, if I don't take it, I can't brush. Let's see how that works...
I called the hypnotist Teresa after our meditation walk. There is a four-week course starting April 28th that I signed up for...
Should be very interested... I have been reading my spiritual midwifery book and practicing mindfulness.:)
Thanks to this class!

Week #12
Per Dr. Ritt-Olsen's request, I am attacking this project with a new vengeance.
I am a flossing machine and proud of it; but, I haven't taken a prenatal vitamin since I don't know when...
I think in preparation of labor (and potential blood loss), taking a vitamin is a logical intervention.
This week I am starting at Zero, so I can only improve.
August is growing just fine... her hands and feet are enormous and she weighs 4lbs3oz.
I can't wait to meet her!!!!! I guess the least I can do is take a darn vitamin....

Week #11
Flossing, Flossing, Flossing...
I am wallowing in my success:) I have flossed so many days in a row; I have stopped keeping track.
My teeth are healthy (or at least healthier)...
I am considering taking on a new project. Still not taking my prenatal vitamins regularly... Still not using mouthwash. And my teeth feel as though they are a little on the yellowish side.
August has learned how to straighten out her very long legs...:)

Week #9/10
I think I am almost to the point that it feels strange not to floss, though I know I could easily slip into my old ways...
I feel I am in the maintenance phase of the SOC, but I have no doubt I am still susceptible to relapse.
August's foot is now under my rib...:) I have heard about this wonderful sensation from others but until now, I think that her little legs were bent...
Still trying to exercise regularly...:) Thanks to all of your for the inspiration!

Week #8
I flossed six days last week. I would like to be able to say that I flossed every night, continuously for a week.
I guess its fortunate I have 8 more weeks to go on this intervention project....
I do have a dentist appt coming up at the end of April. I am looking forward to some objective positive reinforcement...
August is getting very strong. She really likes music, especially American Idol.
It was our 1st wedding anniversary yesterday and we decided to spend it putting together the crib... The crib seems sturdy enough to put a baby in, and we are still happily married. I consider it a success!

Week #7
Here I am in Vermont. There are 17 inches of snow on the ground. I just ran into my old baby-sitter in Walmart. The only thing that has changed in the past 30 years is that they finally built a round-about at the intersection.
My mom is going "ga-ga" literally about August. There are onsies hung up in every corner of the house... My sister is enabling her.
And despite all the chaos, I packed my floss and used it.
That's enough commentary for now, or it might get nasty.
